MEET OUR PHYSICIAN
Judy Vu, MD
Board-CertifieD Internal Medicine Physician & Founder AND Owner of Jade Internal Medicine
Dr. Judy Vu pursued medicine with the goal of caring for patients through the breadth and depth of life. Her career began in academic medicine and hospital care, where she treated patients with highly complex medical conditions while teaching and mentoring future physicians.
Though Dr. Vu loved teaching, she knew her calling was at the bedside, directly helping patients understand their health conditions, address their medical concerns, and optimize their well-being. She eventually left academic medicine to focus more fully on direct patient care.
While caring for patients during some of the most vulnerable times of their lives, Dr. Vu was frequently asked if she had a private practice. Patients repeatedly wanted to continue seeing her after leaving the hospital. These experiences brought her back to the roots of why she pursued medicine — to form deeper, more meaningful, and long-term connections with patients.
As she worked through the COVID pandemic, Dr. Vu also gained a greater appreciation for the burnout physicians were facing in both inpatient and outpatient care. In reflecting on the best way to provide care, she recognized the power of direct primary care, where the physician-patient relationship is restored and physicians have the time and autonomy to offer unhurried, intimate, and in-depth care.
After five years as a physician partner at Seattle Medical Associates, Dr. Vu is proudly launching Jade Internal Medicine, her own direct primary care micropractice on First Hill. She looks forward to caring for her patients, supporting their health and well-being, and building lasting relationships in the decades to come.

Dr. Vu met her husband, Joshan, while she was an intern rotating through the emergency department. He was the infectious disease specialist she consulted about a patient with presumed malaria, and they connected over conversations about mosquitoes and blood smears. Since then, they have celebrated four wedding ceremonies and receptions, moved across the country twice, traveled the world, and welcomed two active and adventurous sons.
After moving from Salt Lake City to Pittsburgh and then to Seattle, Dr. Vu and her family built a close community in West Seattle, which they now consider their forever home. Her parents also moved to Seattle when their first grandchild arrived in 2018, although she has not yet convinced her two sisters and their families to join them.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Vu enjoys badminton, tennis, yoga, and Pilates, and hopes to add pickleball to the list. Through her sons, she is also learning more about swimming, basketball, soccer, and football.
