Frequently Asked Questions
-
Appointments can be coordinated and tailored to suit your needs – including in the office at Nordstrom Tower, virtual visits via SigmaMD, telephone calls, or at your home when medically appropriate and within reasonable driving distance (home, adult family home, assisted living, memory care, or nursing home).
There is a feature on our electronic medical record SigmaMD that gives you the flexibility to self-schedule. Alternatively, call our office during business hours and our medical assistant will help to schedule and coordinate your appointment(s). -
Our goal is to provide hassle-free and convenient health care. If something comes up, please let us know and we are happy to reschedule your appointment. There are no penalties for no-shows or cancellations, but we ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we can ensure adequate availability for others who may be seeking care.

No, Jade IM does not accept medical insurance. While we offer concierge-level care, Jade IM is actually a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice. Unlike traditional concierge models that charge a membership fee, while also billing insurance and collecting co-pays for every visit, DPC is a model purely based on paying a monthly membership fee for all-inclusive care.
Jade IM will NOT bill your insurance and monthly membership fees cannot be reimbursed by commercial insurance nor by Medicare. However, your insurance will be kept on file for coverage of medical services that occur outside of Jade IM: for specialist referrals, lab testing, or major diagnostic imaging and testing. Insurance would also be needed for medications, surgeries, emergency care or hospitalizations.Members are encouraged to maintain a high-deductible medical insurance plan or an HSA/FSA, as these plans work well with DPC models. Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans would also cover the aforementioned services ordered by Dr. Vu, if deemed medically necessary. HMO insurance plans do NOT work well in a DPC practice, as they require an in-network primary care physician (PCP) to order referrals and tests. As Dr. Vu will be out-of-network from HMO plans, she would be very limited in being able to order what she thinks is medically necessary, and patients would need to keep an insurance-dictated PCP to manage those orders. That being said, Dr. Vu will have highly discounted cash rates for labs through LabCorp. She is working on contracts with local radiology and cardiology groups for cash discount pricing in diagnostic studies as well.

We will do our best to accept walk-ins for acute medical concerns, but it would be ideal to call us or to reach out via a SigmaMD message first. This will help us to best triage your concern(s) and direct your care (ie. you might be better served in the emergency room for more expedited diagnostic testing and consultation with a specialist). Calling ahead will ensure that we can best accommodate your needs and also minimize your wait time.
-
Coverage for urgent medical concerns is always available after-hours, but if Dr. Vu is unable to assist you over the phone with medical advice, or, if your situation is determined to be urgent/emergent and requires immediate physical evaluation by a physician, you may be directed to the most appropriate and nearest urgent care or emergency room.

Monthly membership fees are accepted via electronic funds transfers/ACH directly via debit from your bank’s checking or savings account without a transaction fee. Alternatively, most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) are accepted, with a service charge that amounts to approximately $9/month.
Our office complies with WA state law, which dictates that we can only charge for services that have already been rendered. As such, we do billing in arrears: you will receive an invoice on a monthly basis, on the 1st of the month, for the previous month’s service(s). Payments are due upon receipt of invoice. We do not take payments in advance. -
There may be conditions or situations that are better served by another specialist. We will work hard to facilitate that connection for you. Dr. Vu will continue to have full medical privileges and be on medical staff with Providence Swedish. She will have direct access to the specialists there, along with referrals to trusted private-practice specialists and medical groups who either take insurance or can provide quicker access through transparent cash pricing. We will continue to coordinate your referrals and if you were to need an urgent evaluation, we will reach out to specialists directly given the collaborative relationships that Dr. Vu has developed through the years.
